Splitting maot from Lucas
Why
The other day I was updating my social profiles, LinkedIn, resume, etc., and realized that pointing my contacts and portfolio to a maot.dev signature felt kind of odd and unnatural to anyone seeing all of it for the first time.
That's when I made a slightly tough call: split maot from Lucas.
I opened the Cloudflare dashboard, took advantage of having just picked up the Workers Paid plan, which came with a ridiculous discount on new domain registrations, and bought lveiga.dev for $1.
Yes, lucasveiga.dev was already taken. Sadly.
How
At first I was just going to add a redirect from lveiga.dev to maot.dev, but after thinking it over I decided to rework the site that used to be maot.dev into my professional portfolio at lveiga.dev.
Along with that, I also built this place here, much simpler and more natural for what I already do: a microblog made with Zola, without a thousand JavaScript frameworks getting in the way.
I took a lot of inspiration from my friend dasdwqdf, who recently did something similar with their own site.
Reflecting it a little bit
Splitting maot from Lucas was a decision that, in the end, made a lot of sense.
My professional portfolio now lives at lveiga.dev, while maot stays my personal, experimental and somewhat chaotic corner of the internet.
I think everything works better in its own place.
